C. Answer these questions

1. who do you call by their first name? who calls you by your first name? who do you call only by their last name.

answer: I usually call their first name if we are already friends or he is my friend. The first names are often used in casual settings. At same point, my friends call me by my first name. Sometimes, my parents call me my first name too. For example my name is Putri, my friends call me Putri or Put. Because we're friends or get to know and the point of all this is using the first name as it implies intimacy or closeness. I call them by last name when we are not too close or feel strange because it is more polite before they invite me to use their first name. for example my teacher's wife is mrs Riani Septiani, I call her mrs Septiani or another example usually use in my country, his name is Muhammad Fakhri and people usually call him with his last name not first name that is Fakhri

2. how would your name be different in the other countries mentioned in the reading

answer: Naming traditions are different in every country. In Indonesia rarely have family names. But, most of them usually have a given name and then take the name of their father as a last name. Some  married Indonesian women take their husband's last name to be added after their last name. Therefore, it is not uncommon for married couples to have different last names or families. and my name do not have naming traditions although I'm Sundanese. The given name is Putri Fitriani Khairunnisa, there is no family name or surname. However, in here, naming traditions differ regionally such  as in Japanese, some of them especially the old generation have only one name and Batak people have clan names which are used as their surnames that is Nasution and the example is Alfito Yuda Nasution.

3. what would you tell a foreign visitor about the naming traditions in your country

answer: I will tell a foreign visitor about the naming traditions in my country that there are some Indonesian ethnic groups or tribes whose people do a maintain family, last or surname. In North Sumatra, for example, there are clans that are derived according to their ethnicity. Surnames are not commonly used in Javanese, Sundanese, and Betawi. However, usually among the Javanese and Sundanese aristocrats, they used their family name after their name. The naming rules in Balinese culture are even more unique. However, at this time giving names is not fixated on tradition, traditional names are rarely used because parents now prefer commonly used names. And there are children who given names are added with “Putri” for girls and “Putra” for boys.
